What about us?

How about getting to know a little about Who We Are?

Who we are: Rafael and Adanie, a couple united in life and in Pilgrimage. As a matter of fact, life as a couple gave us two beautiful children, born in Valtellina named Matteo and Chloe, and a lot of stories to tell!

At first, we tried to include our experiences with raising our children here, with the aim of serving as an example, an “exit” for some people looking for affinity!

We lived in Brazil for 28 years, and there I graduated in History from the Federal University of Espirito Santo. Despite this, I have not practiced my profession since we left Brazil where I worked for around ten years in public and private schools. I speak English and Italian and I have a huge passion for traveling.

He, an electromechanic, has been working in the profession for almost 15 years, both in Brazil and Italy, and can even communicate in German! He started working in Italy in a fish market, without speaking Italian well. After six months there, he was hired by the largest meat company in Europe, located in Valtellina, as an electromechanic. He gained a lot of experience and was offered a job in a multinational pharmaceutical industry. Our choice was for him to grow up as the provider for our home and for me to focus on raising our children. We believe we are heading in a good direction.

Our Faith

We have been Christians, evangelicals and Pentecostals for at least a decade. This alone defines who we are: passionate about the word of God and its transformative power in people’s lives. Primarily we felt God’s call to preach the gospel and share the message of love and salvation with everyone who crossed our path. The Christian faith is much more than a religion, for us it is a lifestyle and a mission to be fulfilled.

The pilgrimage

To date, we have visited five countries on two continents and without a doubt we have many places included on this route. As a result of our “wanderings”, we currently live in Italy where we have already visited most of the cities. Primarily, we are fans of the concept of traveling slowly and we try to travel independently, conceiving and preparing all our trips. From our perspective, a trip is like a marathon, not a sprint. Researching ticket prices, hotels, local language and culture, as well as trying to adapt to the age of our children is part of the process.

On the other hand, being an independent traveler is no big deal. Given that, the truth is that it is within everyone’s reach and in its origins it only requires a few special ingredients: a large dose of faith and purpose, curiosity about the world, mixed with a little desire for adventure, a portion of tolerance and a lot of information to determine logistics.

Shortly, these are the basic ingredients that encourage us to constantly look for a new corner of the world to explore. In other words, discover and be part of the stories of others who, like us, are citizens of the world. Travel has allowed us to discover many different realities, opening our eyes to the world. They have taught us to live with the Other, to build and improve empathy for those who are different. We often discover that it is more that unites us than what separates us in this world that God created!

Finally, this blog is the result of our desire to share information, cultural aspects and real experiences about the tourist destinations we know with friends. As well as our own life experience in cooking, raising children and in the financial investments we made along our journey.

After that, if you have any questions, feel free to send us an email to danidfaria@gmail.com.
